New President of the Republic of Indonesia

This week, my beloved country has elected the new President: Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). The election itself was the first direct president chosen by our people.

When I read the online news, I became interested to know that SBY explained his outline responsibilities to develop Indonesia for the next five years.

He mentioned points for economic development:
  1. Economic growth from 4.8% to 6.5%
  2. Decrease the unemployment rate from 10.1% to 6%
  3. Decrease the quantity of poor people, from 38.5 million to 19 million by 2009

Then he also pointed the needs to build more infrastructure (roads, bridges, powerplant, phone) in order to attract investors. Also he stated the requirement to increase quality of national education and health status of Indonesians.

*Well, he also thanked the previous presidents for their precious work putting Indonesia in good shape on macroeconomic side*

Mr. President... I appreciate your work targets for your 5-year appointment. But..how come you put such simple things to attract more investment to Indonesia? Why you don't address legal and security issues with regard to that goal? And... why do you put the most basic requirements for economic development as your last points: national education and health.

Did you actually mean, the last but certainly not the least???

I will not comment now. I look forward to your detailed plans on october 21. I really want to know what the plans of you and the administration are.
