Posting again... What a life!

It's been almost two months since my last posting. Hrrghh...my laptop's hard disk was crashed, had to buy new hard disk and lost all my written thoughts. When it was OK, an intern brought in her USB disk and presented the lovely brontox virus to my newly repaired laptop.

Well, life's a bit bizarre here in my country. Lots of disasters happening, from the readily-errupted Mt. Merapi, deadly earthquake in Yogyakarta and Central Java, more dead cases of human avian influenza, and .... since our research unit is interested, more cases of attempted and committed suicide in the island of Bali. The draft of law on anti-pornography is still not yet legislated. Ibu Sinta Nuriyah was called to the Police office to state her legal protest toward one hard-core organization supporting the law.

We are going to Bandung and Jakarta this week. I have a presentation in the national seminar on health decentralization. Hopefully, it'll open wider paths to expand my career.

Business is slow, yet it starts to grow a bit this month. There's an Asian coal industry meeting this week. Thankfully, I get to be involved in one event. At streets of Kuta, I saw more tourists, both local and foreigners. I dunno, when Bali is going to be as packed as pre-bombing tragedy.

Ah yes, the world just got another new-comer. It's Bintang, the very first son of my lovely friends: Shanti and Danan. Amazing! Their long, full of effort, waiting time has been well-paid. The baby is healthy and so cute. Lots of kisses to baby B in ATL!

We met RP, one of my Fulbrighter fellow who took few weeks of her doctoral study in Chicago. She came with her fiancee, a badminton coach in S'pore. It was fun... talking about our days and experiences in ATL. Well, RP, I wish all the best for your study and your life!

I just got an email from my Latina friend who was my class-mate. She plans to expand her consulting business to Indonesia and want me to be her associate consultant. Sounds interesting! She asked me to send her my longest full version resume :) Cool...

Well, with regard to weather...it's always summer in Bali! Hot and humid all year!

Until next time. Got to go back to business :)
