My Mami's Birthday!

Happy birthday to my mom...
Her birthday is on the 21st. The time I wrote this, it's the 21st in Indonesia.
I called her two hours ago, sang the b'day song to her. Attarilan also took the chance to have some chat with her and my Dad. "Happy Birthday, Oma!" That's how he called my mom, Oma. "Do you have a party? Do you have a cake?" No, Oma didn't prepare any. If only Attarilan was with her, she would make one. "You should make it...a yummy cake!" Then, he talked to his Opa, my Papa. "Hi Opa. How are you? What's your car? What's your favorite color?" Hmm...I'm so sure that my parents loved to hear their grandson's voice. Mami and Papa said that Getar's English and accent were almost perfect :) I overheard that they spoke in English with Getar. But yet, they reminded us to make Getar not forget his Indonesian. Sure!!!
I miss my Mami. This is her second birthday that I'm far away from home. Last year, I sent her a little book, with beautiful words from a daughter who has been a mother too, just like me. Miss her so much!! I miss her cool hands, her laughter, her cooking....her tears.
Today, on my way to campus, I saw a hispanic young woman, with her three little kids. Her youngest was still a baby, maybe 10months. I remember my Mami. Back in 1981, in Sydney, when Papa pursued his Master in Public Health at Sydney Uni. Mami had to take care the three of us. I am the oldest, I was 4-year. Yudi was 3 and Pedi was an infant!! Mami was so young, only 25, with three children. Ah, she was so tough, patient, caring. She is so smart, she had managed everything so well, without any complains. She is a great wife, home maker, wonderful mother, mentor. Thankfully, the three of us had made good paths in our lives...so far.
I remember the night before I went with Abdes for a marriage. I was lying on my bed, with tears, in darkness. She came and sat by the bed. "If you know and believe in what you are going to do... As you are a grown-up now... Go for it!"
I love her. I miss her. Happy Birthday, Mami! May the Grace of God showers you endlessly!
